Despite the fact that Wright State University’s ArtsGala, set to take place on Saturday, March 28, has been canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic, the shows still must go on — virtually, that is.
For the past two decades, WSU has hosted ArtsGala, a black tie event dedicated to raising money for the university’s scholarship fund for its fine and performing arts students.
And, more than ever before, support for the scholarship funds for the fine and performing arts students at Wright State University is incredibly important. Without the ArtsGala, these students stand to lose at least $200,000 in scholarship funds. Fortunately, the university is making it possible for the masses to donate to this worthy cause from the comfort of their couches.
“We had been especially thrilled to document Wright State University’s ArtsGala this year after spending multiple days on campus documenting the students’ hard work for a video that was to open the event,” said Max and Briana Snyder, owners of Knack Creative, a visual media company working to promote the event. “The Gala’s cancellation led to shift to an online fundraising platform to raise these crucial funds, so we adjusted the messaging and direction of the already-in-progress video to fit these new needs.”
Until April 10, everyone will have an opportunity to donate to the scholarship fund by visiting givecampus.com. Additionally, in the coming days, the logistics of a silent auction with mobile bidding will be released on the event’s Facebook page.
“We are asking you to help us ensure that our students have the opportunity to follow their dreams and continue to do what they are so passionate about — performing and entertaining patrons like you,” organizers wrote on the crowdfunding page.
In the meantime, loosen your purse strings and prepare for next year’s ArtsGala (hopefully to be held in person) on Saturday, April 10, 2021. To stay up-to-date on all ArtsGala-related information, be sure to follow the gala’s event page on Facebook.
