The Wright State Athletic Department sent graduation stoles, T-shirts and congratulatory notes to graduating seniors to celebrate their time as Raiders.
Joylynn Brown, assistant athletic director, and Bob Grant, director of athletics, adorned masks and gloves while they packed and taped envelopes on the Wright State Nutter Center patio.
The Athletic Department traditionally hosts graduating students and their families following the university’s commencement ceremony for cake, ice cream and pictures. The department’s celebration was canceled this year because of the coronavirus pandemic.
“This is a small thing that I hope is meaningful to them when they go to their mailboxes and find it,” said Grant.
“They’ve had a weird ride, but I tell you what, these 40 have been part of the greatest three-year run in Wright State athletic history,” Grant said.
Last year, Wright State won five conference championships and received the James J. McCafferty Trophy, which recognizes the all-sport champion of the Horizon League.
