The leader of one of Dayton’s largest woman-owned companies has been tapped to join Wright State University’s board of trustees.

Dawn Conway, CEO of Boost Engagement LLC, was appointed by Gov. Mike DeWine to serve an eight-year term on WSU’s board, effective Feb. 22. She succeeds Grace Ramos, former commissioner of the Ohio Civil Rights Commission, whose term ended June 30, 2020.

“Wright State is an important asset to Ohio and the Dayton region,” Conway said in a news release. “I look forward to serving on the board.”

Conway, an Oakwood native, was named CEO of Boost Engagement LLC in 2017. She is responsible for corporate leadership and execution of the brands in the company’s portfolio, which includes Shumsky, Boost Engagement and Outta the Box Dispensers.

Prior to joining Boost Engagement LLC, Conway was chief operating officer of Cision (NYSE: CISN), a Chicago-based public relations and earned media software company. Before that, she held several key leadership roles during her 22-year career with LexisNexis.

Conway holds a bachelor’s degree from Regis College and earned her J.D. from California Western School of Law. She previously served on the boards of the Dayton Art Institute, Culture Works and the International Association for the Measurement and Evaluation of Communication.

“We are excited to have Dawn join the Board of Trustees,” WSU President Sue Edwards said. “Her skills and experience will be great additions to the work of the university.”

Conway’s term on the WSU board of trustees will last until June 30, 2029.

Headquartered in the Oregon District, Boost Engagement is the largest advertising agency in the region. In recent years, Conway has led the company through a series of achievements, including millions of dollars in new business and the strategic rebrand of its Boost Rewards division.

She has also led the company throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, which coincided with a shift toward PPE manufacturing to support Boost Engagement LLC’s healthcare clients and the Miami Valley community.

Boost Engagement LLC is the parent company of Boost Engagement, Shumsky and other brands. The company specializes in brand engagement with promotional products, recognition solutions and online stores for its global customers.

With nearly $26 million in 2019 revenue, Boost Engagement LLC is the seventh-largest woman-owned company in the region, according to DBJ research. The company was recognized as a finalist in the DBJ’s 2020 Business of the Year awards and employs 55 local workers.
