Outstanding students and organizations honored during annual leadership award ceremony

More than 40 individual students and five organizations were honored for making significant contributions at Wright State University during the annual Student Leadership Awards ceremony on April 8.

Hosted on Webex by the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership, the ceremony recognized outstanding student leaders and student organizations from all areas of campus life.

This year marked the 36th year Wright State has presented the Student Leadership Awards. Nominations are accepted from Wright State community members and are reviewed by a committee of students and faculty and staff members.

Traditionally the event is held on campus with students, faculty and staff coming together to celebrate the achievements of students, organizations and other Wright State community members over the past academic year.

Jeremy Keller, program manager for leadership in the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership, said he is proud of the students who persevered during the coronavirus pandemic to make a difference at Wright State.

“I am incredibly proud of our students this year who took the current pandemic and said ‘You know what? We are still going to go out and do amazing work as leaders on our campus!'” Keller said. “Even being virtual for the most part of this past year, the leaders we have at Wright State continue to show their ingenuity and consistently strive to be better than they were in the past.”

Individuals award categories included emerging leaders, established leaders, advanced leaders, senior leader, student supporter of the year and advisor of the year. Student organization were honored for collaboration, diversity and inclusion, community service, program of the year and student organization of the year.
