Supply drop

Students in the Wright State University Raj Soin College of Business delivered backpacks stuffed with school supplies to Greene County school kids.

Wright State students purchased and put together 48 backpacks filled with notebooks, glue sticks, pens, pencils and other supplies for first graders at Fairborn Primary School. On Sept. 7, Beta Alpha Psi members hand-delivered the supplies to Vicki Hudepohl, Fairborn Primary School principal, and several first-grade students.

“The kids that we got to see today were behind their masks, but you could tell they’re happy and smiling,” said Jillian Egbert, a senior accountancy student.

Hudepohl said teachers and school counselors will distribute the backpacks and supplies to the students who express a need for them.

“We have lots of families that are really struggling,” said Hudepohl. “Knowing that there are people out there that are willing to help my children now that I’m a principal is overwhelming for me.”

Beta Alpha Psi, an international honor organization for financial information students, organized the community service project. The students utilized funds from last year’s fundraising activities, including 50/50 raffles, purchase the backpacks and school supplies.
