The Wright State University Administration has been notified by the AAUP-WSU of a move to add 10 School of Professional Psychology (SOPP) faculty to the existing bargaining unit.
The SOPP was recently merged into the new College of Health, Education and Human Services, where the majority of faculty are already represented by the AAUP-WSU.
Wright State will not oppose the petition because the university requested confirmation that a majority (at least six) of employees desired to join the faculty union, and the union has confirmed a majority of the affected SOPP faculty have expressed their preference to join the bargaining unit.
The petition must be approved by the State Employment Relations Board (SERB) before being implemented. SERB will evaluate the petition and determine later this year whether it satisfies all of the requirements under state law.
No date or timeline for that process has been announced.
