Screams of joy and excitement filled the Student Union on Sept. 11 as dozens of female students pledged to join five different sororities to wrap up the end of Wright State University’s bid week.
Students completed three rounds of discussions to select their top two sororities. The rounds included a philanthropy round, a sisterhood round and a preference round.
“It’s so great to get the whole panhellenic community together,” said Callista Hess, a senior marketing major and Kappa Delta recruiter. “Because all of these sororities have different values and have different things that make them unique.”
All 36 students received an envelope at the same time, revealing their sorority. New members joined their awaiting sisters by revealing their names and sororities and bursting through a curtain while wearing their sorority T-shirts.
“I just wanted to find that sisterhood and that connection,” said Megan Collins, a sophomore nursing major who joined Alpha Xi Delta.
This is the 49th year Wright State has hosted bid day.
