Let the journey begin

Wright State University graduating students celebrate the end of their college studies and the prelude to their next chapter in life

There was plenty of free food, music and smiles at the annual Spring Grad Fest 2023 in the Student Union Apollo Room on April 20.

Graduating students were eager to decorate their graduation caps, pick up their first alumni T-shirts, take photos and learn about the Wright State Alumni Association.

“It’s weird that it’s going to be over,” said Mykali Isaac, a senior human resource management major who plans to move to South Dakota after graduation. “I’ve been in school my whole life and now I’m going to navigate life after college.”

The event was part of Grad Week, organized by the Office of Alumni Relations. Spring Grad Fest attracted around 100 students, who had a chance to win prizes, dance and celebrate with fellow graduates.

“This is the most exciting time of the year for our office,” said Bing Bingham, alumni relations officer in the Office of Alumni Relations. “This is the time where we get to interact with the most students and get to welcome them to alumni life.”

The spring class of 2023 includes 1,603 graduates. Wright State will hold two spring commencement ceremonies in the Wright State University Nutter Center:

  • Graduate ceremony: Friday, April 28, at 7 p.m.
  • Undergraduate ceremony: Saturday, April 29, at 10 a.m.
