Wright State University golfers can work on their game, regardless of the weather conditions, in the new Tobey Family Golf Studio in the Wright State Nutter Center.
“This is a testament to what a difference a donor and a group of donors can make on a program,” said Bob Grant, director of athletics. “The Tobey Family Golf Studio has instantly become a vital tool in the continued development and preparation for our Raider golfers.”
The Tobey Family Golf Studio totals about 2,700 square feet of training space on the second floor of the Nutter Center. The state-of-the-art training facility includes a 1,100-square-foot putting green, featuring dedicated chipping patches and natural contours that mimic conditions players will find on a course. The length of the green allows for putts of up to 60 feet.
“We went on a practice trip in January and the players were talking about how their touch and feel around the greens were already better than in years past,” said Connor Lash, head golf coach.
In addition to the putting green, the training facility includes two hitting bays, each complete with a Foresight GC3 launch monitor. Players can obtain accurate and instant feedback on every shot. The facility also features a coaches office and custom-built lockers for players to store their clubs and other golf equipment.
