Wright State alum Tilly Evans-Krueger wins award for best dancer in Broadway show

Tilly Evans-Krueger received the 2024 Chita Rivera Award for Outstanding Dancer in a Broadway Show for her performance in “The Outsiders.”

Wright State University dance alum Tilly Evans-Krueger was honored as the best dancer in a Broadway show this year for her performance in “The Outsiders.”

Evans-Krueger received the 2024 Chita Rivera Award for Outstanding Dancer in a Broadway Show during a ceremony in New York on May 20.

The Chita Rivera Awards for Dance and Choreography celebrate outstanding dance and choreography on Broadway, off-Broadway and in film. The awards are presented annually by the New York City Dance Alliance Foundation.

Evans-Krueger is a performer and associate choreographer in “The Outsiders,” which opened on April 11 in the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre on Broadway.

“The Outsiders” is nominated for 12 Tony Awards, including Best New Musical.

Dance Magazine said Evans-Krueger “possesses a magnetic presence, ethereal movement quality and contagious passion.”

Evans-Krueger graduated from Wright State in 2014 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance.

She performed in the Broadway production of “Moulin Rouge.” Her off-Broadway credits include “Illinoise,” “The Lucky Ones,” “The Wrong Man” and “Working: A Musical.” She was also the movement coordinator for the off-Broadway play “Jonah.”

She has also performed with the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company, Spectrum Dance Theater in Seattle and BODYTRAFFIC dance company in Los Angeles. She has worked with choreographers Peter Chu, Sonya Tayeh and Camille A. Brown.

Her film and television credits include “Saturday Night Live,” “Rent Live,” “Mover” and Better Nate than Ever.”
