Anand Jeyaraj, professor of information systems

Anand Jeyaraj, Ph.D., professor of information systems at Wright State University, received the 2024 Brage Golding Distinguished Professor of Research Award for the impact of his research both locally and internationally.

Jeyaraj’s research portfolio consists of over 100 publications, including 75 articles in peer-reviewed journals, 30 articles in peer-reviewed conference proceedings, and other articles as book chapters, editorials, and technical reports.

Jeyaraj’s research spans multiple domains within the information systems discipline, including adoption and use, success and payoff, and methodologies. He has examined innovations in artificial intelligence, cyber security, robotic process automation, enterprise social media, social commerce, blockchain, e-government, Industry 4.0 and performance dashboards. He has also studied information systems for business activities across different disciplines.

His research has been published in prestigious international and cross-disciplinary journals such as MIS Quarterly, Management Science, Communications of the ACM, International Journal of Information Management, Industrial Marketing Management, Journal of Strategic Information Systems and the Annals of Operations Research. His research has been cited over 8,600 times.

He was awarded the inaugural Ranyard Medal for best paper published in the Journal of Business Analytics by the Operational Research Society in the United Kingdom.

Locally, Jeyaraj’s research has benefited several Dayton-area businesses, which enhances Wright State’s reputation in the community. He has also been involved in research funded by the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and the Air Force Institute of Technology.

Jeyaraj’s research is recognized internationally. Researchers from several countries, including the United Kingdom, India, China, Vietnam and Morocco, have invited Jeyaraj to collaborate on research projects due to his expertise. He has been invited as a keynote speaker and guest speaker for conferences, special interest groups, and seminars in the United Kingdom and India.

Jeyaraj has served on multiple international conference boards and committees, including the International Conference on Information Systems, the Americas Conference on Information Systems and the European Conference on Information Systems.

Jeyaraj has not only contributed strongly to information systems research but also serves on several editorial boards for prestigious journals, including the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Transactions on Engineering Management and the International Journal of Information Management.

He has served as guest editor for special issues at the International Journal of Information Management and the International Journal of Information Management Data Insights. He has been invited as an ad hoc reviewer for many other journals and conferences and has reviewed over 270 research articles. He has served as external examiner for doctoral dissertations from universities in Finland and India.

Jeyaraj’s colleagues commend his research, which encompasses both qualitative and quantitative methods that benefit information systems researchers and practitioners.

Donald Hopkins, interim dean of the Raj Soin College of Business, commended Jeyaraj for his work, saying that his research has helped boost Wright State’s reputation among international universities.

“He has gained significant international recognition,” Hopkins said. “His research credentials, the international impact and recognition of his research and the distinction to the university has exceeded expectations.”
