Wright State ranked among top universities worldwide for third consecutive year

Wright State University was ranked in the top 6.7% out of 21,462 universities worldwide in the 2025 edition of the outcome-based Global 2000 list by the Center for World University Rankings.

Wright State also ranked 255th out of 319 universities in the United States.

“We are proud that the Center for World University Rankings has recognized Wright State for our strong academic programs and outcomes,” said Susan Schaurer, vice president for enrollment management. “Our affordable tuition and commitment to student success continue to attract learners from across Ohio and more than 1,500 international students. This recognition affirms the strength of our academic programs and global impact.”

The Center for World University Rankings publishes the largest academic rankings of global universities. The rankings are unique because they use objective indicators for four key pillars in its methodology. The pillars are education, employability, faculty and research, without relying on surveys and data submissions from universities.

The education pillar is based on the academic success of a university’s alumni relative to the university’s size. Employability looks at the professional success of a university’s alumni relative to the university’s size. The faculty category measures the number of faculty members who have received prestigious academic distinctions. The research pillar covers the total number of research papers, papers in top journals, papers in influential journals, and highly cited papers.

This year’s rankings used 74 million outcome-based data points, with equal emphasis placed on student-related and faculty-related indicators.
