Jason Massengill, M.D., was appointed associate dean for military and veterans affairs and assistant designated institutional official at the Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine and system liaison for military and veterans affairs at Premier Health, effective Aug. 1.

Massengill will serve as the primary liaison between the Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine and Premier Health with Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, the Dayton Veterans Administration Medical Center, local guard and reserve units and the broader military and veteran community.
He will also serve as assistant designated institutional official in the Office of Graduate Medical Education at the Boonshoft School of Medicine, focusing on Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education accreditation readiness.
Massengill will partner with the executive sponsors of Premier Health’s Veterans Caregiver Resource Group, which supports and raises awareness of the military community, and will help strengthen connections for active military members, veterans, reservists, patients, employees and their families.
He will continue providing patient care at Premier OB/GYN – Sugar Camp, dedicating half of his professional time to this role.
Massengill brings an exceptional record of medical expertise, education and leadership to this new joint role.
He joined the faculty of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Boonshoft School of Medicine in 2013 and was recently promoted to professor. He is also a professor in the Department of Gynecologic Surgery and Obstetrics at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences.
His clinical and research interests include pelvic pain, reconstructive pelvic surgery, incontinence and minimally invasive and robotic surgery. He has mentored numerous resident research projects focused on surgical education and innovation.
A recently retired U.S. Air Force colonel, Massengill completed professional military education at the Air War College and the Air Command and Staff College, providing patient care while supervising and educating residents.
Massengill earned his B.S. in Microbiology from Indiana University Bloomington and his M.D. from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences.
He completed his OB/GYN residency at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base through the Wright State integrated residency program, followed by a fellowship in urogynecology and reconstructive pelvic surgery at the National Capital Consortium/Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
