Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine has named Jerome L. Yaklic, M.D., Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG), as acting chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, effective May 1, 2012. Yaklic has been a full-time faculty member in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology for more than six years, where he has served as medical director for Wright State Physicians Women’s Health Care.
In addition to his role at Wright State, Yaklic is also a medical staff member and medical director of the Miami Valley Hospital/Five Rivers Health Center (FRHC) for Women’s Health.
Yaklic came to Wright State most recently in 2010 from Bad Axe, Mich., where he operated a private practice in the small, rural community since 2000. During his time in Bad Axe, Yaklic also held several positions within local hospitals, including chief of staff at Huron Medical Center. Prior to that, Yaklic served as an active duty member in the U.S. Air Force at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and was a member of the faculty at the Boonshoft School of Medicine Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology from 1996—2000.
“Dr. Yaklic is an outstanding clinician and educator,” said Howard Part, M.D., dean of the Boonshoft School of Medicine. “His leadership skills will help advance the mission of the department, and he will also be an exceptional role model for our students and residents.”
In addition to his role with the Boonshoft School of Medicine, Yaklic is working toward his M.B.A. with a concentration in finance from the Wright State University Raj Soin College of Business, which he expects to complete in December 2012. He is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and is a member of the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists, the American Medical Association, the Montgomery County Medical Society and the Ohio State Medical Society.
