The legend of Lowdy Laker continues to grow.
Lowdy, the mascot of Wright State University–Lake Campus, has been named the mascot of the month for July by Street Characters, the Canadian company that created Lowdy Laker and Rowdy Raider.
“Every campus needs a touch of whimsy and a wave of school spirit, and Wright State University–Lake Campus students have found theirs in the legendary Lowdy Laker,” Street Characters said on its Mascot of the Month Blog.
Lowdy is a mythical serpentine-like creature called a Hoedag. For more than a century, Lowdy has lurked in Grand Lake St. Marys, on whose shores the Lake Campus was built.
Street Characters described Lowdy as a colossal, charismatic creature that inspires students to achieve greatness, both academically and athletically
“More than just a figurehead, Lowdy embodies the spirit of Wright State University–Lake Campus, providing motivation and joy to students, staff and fans alike,” Street Characters said. “As Lowdy continues to be a beacon of enthusiasm and pride, he reminds us all of the importance of courage, community and a dash of fun in our academic journeys.”
