Retired U.S. Air Force Col. Cassie Barlow has an eye on a growing problem for one of Ohio’s biggest industries.

The aerospace industry in Ohio is one of the state’s most lucrative — 170,000 Ohioans are employed there with big anchors such as General Electric and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. But as the business grows in Ohio, it’s facing a shortage of skilled workers.

Barlow, who just retired as a Wright-Patt commander, is now executive director of the Aerospace Professional Development Center at Wright State University.
