Crocheting for a cause


A group of Wright State University staff has gone through miles of yarn to create more than 400 items for those in need.

Since 2012, the Wright State Knitting/Crocheting Circle has donated 147 afghans, 132 scarves, 84 hats, eight holiday stockings, three rugs and numerous stuffed toys, mittens, headbands and pot holders to four local agencies.

“When you put all of us together even though we are small, we are mighty,” said Cindy Vanzant, assistant director of the Woman’s Center at Wright State.

The Knitting/Crocheting Circle is open to students, faculty, staff and alumni. The group meets in 162 Millett Hall Fridays from noon to 1 p.m.

Participants should bring their own materials. Beginners should bring an appealing acrylic yarn and needles or hook and the group will get you started.
