Vaughn Shannon, a Wright State University political science professor and expert on terrorism, said it’s his understanding that “newer models of high-altitude surveillance” were involved in identifying and monitoring bin Laden’s compound about an hour from Islamabad, Pakistan. He agreed that it’s not far-fetched to think that programs conducted at Wright-Patterson played some role in that.
