Cindy Riley, administrative specialist for the president of the faculty, quietly serves in the background, cheering on Wright State through the hard work and dedication she displays every day.
As a founding member of the annual Faculty and Staff Appreciation Event, Riley was instrumental in taking the event from an idea to a reality. She now volunteers as the chair of the event’s organizing committee, giving much of her time and talent.
“I’m confident, thanks to Cynthia, the event has a strong foundation and will continue to be a great event,” said Steve Berberich, associate provost.
During the preparations for the Faculty and Staff Appreciation Event and basketball game, Riley pours great enthusiasm and long hours into her work.
“There is no person more responsible for the success of the Faculty and Staff Appreciation Event than Cindy,” said Dan Krane, professor of biological sciences. “Cindy has done more to help morale at Wright State than anyone I know.”
The Faculty and Staff Appreciation event has since tripled in size over the years.
“Her attention to detail is impeccable. Cindy is always the first one to arrive and the last one to leave, and she does it with a smile on her face the entire time,” said Shannon Norton, assistant to the associate provost. “I have often heard her say, ‘you should see the joy and awe in the kids’ faces when they see the games, athletes and cheerleaders.’ This is why she does what she does — to bring joy to others.”
Though she does not seek the spotlight, Cindy Riley clearly deserves to be in it.
