Wright State faculty lecture series continues with coronavirus-related talks

Mechanical and Materials Engineering faculty members Joy Gockel, Ahsan Mian and Raghavan Srinivasan will give a presentation on “Additive Manufacturing and How 3D Printing is Fighting COVID-19” on May 1 as part of the SiP Lecture Series.

Using 3D printing to fight COVID-19. Addressing the coronavirus among vulnerable populations. Caring for patients during a crisis. Responding to the pandemic as a stoic.

These are among the topics Wright State University faculty members will address during the weekly SiP (Shelter in Place) Lecture Series. All presentations in the series are open to Wright State students, faculty and staff, as well as the public.

Lectures can be watched live on Webex. The presentations are also recorded and available to watch later at wright.edu/streaming and archived on CORE Scholar.

Organized by the Wright State Faculty Senate, the SiP Lecture Series feature presentations on timely topics from Wright State faculty experts. The lecture series is an effort to build and promote Wright State’s academic community during a time of physical distancing.

Laura Luehrmann, professor of political science and president of the Faculty Senate, said an average of 85 people have logged on to watch each presentation live since the series began in early April. The Faculty Senate plans to continue the series as long as interest continues, Luehrmann said.
