Kim Demmings became Wright State’s all-time scoring leader as the women’s basketball team rallied in the fourth quarter for a 77-72 Horizon League win at Oakland Jan. 16.
Demmings gave Wright State a 6-3 lead at the 7:50 mark of the first quarter and, in the process, scored her 2,305 career point, passing Bill Edwards (2,303 points from 1989-93) to become the university’s all-time leading scoring.
The scoring milestone helped Demmings earn the Horizon League Player of the Week. It’s the third time she has received the honor this season.
She is just 20 points away from tying Milwaukee’s Traci Edwards (2,340 points from 2005-09) as the Horizon League’s all-time scorer in women’s basketball. Wright State (15-3, 5-0 Horizon) hosts Milwaukee on Thursday, Jan. 21, at 7 p.m., followed by Green Bay on Saturday, Jan. 23, at 2 p.m.
Demmings became the top scorer in Wright State women’s basketball history on Nov. 19.
