Beavercreek student wins full ride to Wright State

In 200 words or less, a local student made it clear a scholarship to Wright State University would positively impact his career; in the end those 200 words earned him four years of free tuition.

Richard Day of Beavercreek, Ohio, was awarded a four-year scholarship to Wright State University, Thursday, June 16. Day was the sixth winner in the annual “Dayton’s CW Scholarship” contest.

“Wright State University is pleased to partner with the Dayton CW to award a four-year tuition scholarship to Richard Day,” said Jacqueline McMillan, Ph.D., vice president for enrollment management. “Richard is committed to changing not only his life but also the lives of those who struggle with physical challenges.”

“We are delighted to welcome him to the Raider family,” said McMillan.

Richard Day, center holding check, will get four years of tuition free at Wright State University after winning the Dayton CW Scholarship.

An aspiring biomedical engineering major, Day entered the essay contest addressing the theme, “How will your degree affect the legacy you leave at the end of your career?”

“We are excited for Richard and his legacy he will leave. He is an inspiring young man with big dreams ahead,” said Lisa Barhorst, vice president and general manager of WDTN-TV and Dayton’s CW.
