DaShaun Wood arrived in Germany, and it felt more like home.
“It’s way more Americanized,” said Wood, the former Wright State basketball standout who left Italy for Germany last summer. “More people speak English, and they just have a different cultural world that’s more comfortable.”
Wood was comfortable enough — on the basketball court and in his German surroundings — that he has committed to the country for two more seasons. After producing a 2010-11 campaign that was one of the best in Germany, Wood last week left his Frankfurt team and signed a two-year contract with the Berlin professional team.
