FAIRBORN — Singer-songwriter John Legend will be the keynote speaker at Wright State University’s welcoming ceremony for the incoming class of 2016.
The Springfield native and Grammy-winning musician will perform for and speak to the incoming freshman class on Aug. 24 as part of the university’s freshmen convocation.
Two years ago, John Rogers, Director of Orientation and First Weekend, began the search for a speaker who would send the right message to the incoming students.
“We were trying to find folks that are not only exciting and catchy to get the students to come out, but someone who is also community focused,” Rogers said. “Not only is John Legend a world-class artist, I was also impressed with what I saw through his campaign.”
