Wright State Orthopaedic Surgery, Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation will offer an educational session about back pain on Tuesday, Jan. 21, at 7 p.m., in Classroom 1 on the second floor of the Wright State Physicians Health Center (725 University Blvd.) on the campus of Wright State University. The session is free and open to the public.
Iva Staats, P.T., a physical therapist with Wright State Orthopaedic Surgery, Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation, will speak about “Back to School – A Common Sense Approach to Avoiding Back Pain.” She will address the role of posture and body mechanics in back pain; proper material handling safety and lifting techniques; ergonomics of work station setup; and general exercise to avoid pain and injury.
Staats is board-certified in physical therapy and has more than 17 years of physical therapy experience.
In addition to the January educational session, Wright State Orthopaedic Surgery, Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation will offer its next educational session on Tuesday, Feb. 18, at 7 p.m., at the Wright State Physicians Health Center.
