When Home Free formed in Minnesota 14 years ago, a cappella music was not a certain pathway to network television appearances or the top of the Billboard charts.
Most active groups had university or high school affiliations. The limited number of active professional acts made a living performing at theme parks, trade shows, schools, private events and family concerts.
However, a cultural shift occurred several years ago and a cappella entered the mainstream, which opened up new opportunities for groups like Home Free. The season four winner of NBC’s “The Sing-Off” performs in Wright State University’s Apollo Room on Friday, June 27.
