Wright State Physicians Orthopaedics will offer an educational session, “Ankle Arthritis,” on Tuesday, Sept. 16, at 7 p.m., in classroom 1 in the Wright State Physicians Health Center. The session is free and open to the public.
The speaker is Michael Barnett Jr., M.D., assistant professor and director of undergraduate orthopaedic education with Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation. He will discuss the common causes of ankle arthritis, how to recognize signs and symptoms and current non-operative and operative treatment options.
After earning his Doctor of Medicine from the Boonshoft School of Medicine, he completed his residency at Akron General Hospital and a fellowship in orthopaedic foot and ankle surgery at Portland Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Center in Portland, Maine. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
