Wright State University senior musical theater majors Ian Benjamin and Kelsey Pohl star in Dare to Defy Productions’ staging of Jason Robert Brown’s humorous, romantic and heartbreaking 2002 musical “The Last Five Years,” scheduled for Friday, Jan. 2, and Saturday, Jan. 3, in the Schuster Center’s Mathile Theatre.
“The theme of career vs. relationships speaks loudest to me,” said Benjamin, an outstanding Thénardier last season in WSU’s “Les Misérables.” “It’s something I struggle with in my own life – balancing shows, school and work, then still trying to set aside time for my friends and loved ones. Until that balance is achieved, there is always one that ends up winning out.
