C-SPAN Campaign Bus to visit Wright State Sept. 14

Students can learn more about the presidential campaigns when the C-SPAN Campaign Bus visits Wright State on Sept. 14.

With the presidential election just around the corner, the C-SPAN Campaign 2016 Bus will visit Wright State University to educate students about the political process, presidential campaigns and the importance of being an active citizen.

The award-winning, interactive, multimedia learning bus will visit Wright State’s Dayton Campus on Wednesday, Sept. 14, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. It will be parked near the “Turning Points” sculpture.

The C-SPAN bus previous stopped at Wright State during the 2012 presidential campaign.

“The C-SPAN Bus is an incredible opportunity for our students to become more knowledgeable about the political issues facing our country,” said Lukas Wenrick, president of Wright State’s Student Government Association.

The bus can help students better understand how important their voices are and learn how they can become even more engaged, Wenrick said.

“Our state is one of the few that continuously decides the outcome of the presidential election,” he said. “We truly live out the idea that our votes matter. No Republican has ever won the White House without winning Ohio and no Democrat since JFK has won the White House without winning Ohio.”

C-SPAN is a cable and satellite television network that works to make government and political functions accessible to the American public through TV, the Internet and book discussions.

The bus includes interactive stations explaining how to access C-SPAN’s programming and resources about Congress and various political topics.
