Wright State students, faculty and staff learned about opportunities to give back to the community at the We Serve U Volunteer Fair on Sept. 19 in the Student Union Atrium.
The eighth annual fair hosted 25 nonprofit organizations for which Wright State community members can volunteer.
Hosted by Wright State’s We Serve U, the event encouraged attendees to volunteer for local organizations throughout Raider Country. Representatives from organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Hannah’s Treasure Chest, DATV, YWCA and a Special Wish were in attendance, as well as several Wright State organizations.
The College of Education and Human Services collected cards to be distributed to students and staff at Northridge Local Schools. “Northridge was really impacted by the tornadoes of Memorial Day,” said Joanie Hendricks, We Serve U co-chair. “We are just writing letters of encouragement to give them on their first day.”
The Volunteer Fair provided Wright State students, staff and faculty an opportunity to learn about organizations in the area. “It’s just wonderful to see that they want to give back to the community,” said Hendricks.
