Lorrie Kubaszewski, an instructor in the Department of Teacher Education, received the 2018–19 Presidential Award for Outstanding Non-Tenure Eligible Faculty: Teaching in honor of her effectiveness as an educator.
Kubaszewski, who joined the College of Education and Human Services in 2014, brings a lot of teaching experience to the Department of Teacher Education due to her 30 years as a classroom teacher. For 25 years she worked in Troy City Schools in areas such as teaching, curriculum building and athletic coaching. She has also conducted research on middle level education and created a program for disengaged seventh- and eighth-grade students.
Her teaching at Wright State is well-received by her students and peers. She receives outstanding student evaluation reviews and continuously strives to improve her teaching methods to better accommodate students. One of her former students said, “Mrs. K is wonderful, I’m not sure how else to phrase it. She infuses her wisdom as a veteran educator into every class.”
Kubaszewski’s peers describe her as constructive, insightful and respectful. “It is clear she is a thoughtful and purposeful educator,” said one of her co-workers. “Her dedication to students, their learning, their development and their success as teachers is clearly evident.”
