Wright State Physicians names David Dhanraj inaugural chief medical officer

David Dhanraj was named chief medical officer of Wright State Physicians and associate dean for clinical affairs of the Boonshoft School of Medicine.

David Dhanraj, M.D., a physician of obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN) with Wright State Physicians, has been named the organization’s inaugural chief medical officer.

Dhanraj will be responsible for integrating quality and best practice into clinical operations, leading operational and strategic planning in concert with Kim Rex, Wright State Physicians CEO.

Along with the new leadership role with Wright State Physicians, Dhanraj has been named associate dean for clinical affairs of the Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine. Dhanraj most recently served as professor and chair of OB/GYN at the School of Medicine, returning to Wright State in 2020 to take these roles.

Dhanraj is a strong advocate for diversity, equity and inclusion, and is co-leading the Boonshoft School of Medicine’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Task Force with Erica Taylor, M.D., assistant dean of diversity and inclusion.

Dhanraj is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG) and in 2020 received the National Faculty Award for Excellence in Resident Education from ACOG’s Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dhanraj earned his MBA from the Wright State Raj Soin College of Business in 2010, receiving the Outstanding MBA Graduate Award.

A graduate of Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Indiana, Dhanraj attended the Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis. He completed his OB/GYN residency at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati.

Wright State Physicians is composed of more than 100 physicians affiliated with the Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine. The group provides primary and specialty care in a wide range of specialized diagnostic and treatment services throughout the Dayton region including, family medicine, OB/GYN, internal medicine, dermatology, surgery and geriatrics, as well as providing student health services to Wright State University students.
