
The Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine will hold its 2025 commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 3, at 4:30 p.m. in the Nutter Center.
Wright State University’s Boonshoft School of Medicine will celebrate the graduation of 129 medical students on Saturday, May 3, at 4:30 p.m. in the Wright State Nutter Center.
The ceremony will include the conferring of degrees, a traditional hooding ceremony recognizing graduates’ entry into the medical profession and the recitation of a professional oath. Graduates will also sign a registry commemorating their first use of the initials M.D. after their names.
Tickets are not required to attend the ceremony. Doors will open at 3:30 p.m. Seating in the Wright State Nutter Center is first-come, first-served. Guests should enter at gates 2, 3 and 4. Guests are limited to one clear bag and a small clutch bag per person.
The ceremony will be live-streamed on the medical school’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.
Beginning in July, the new physicians will start residency training in medical specialties of their choice, joining outstanding programs in Dayton, across Ohio and nationwide.
This year, 56% of graduates will remain in Ohio for residency, and 24% will stay in Dayton, including at Premier Health, Dayton Children’s, Kettering Health Network, Wright-Patterson Medical Center and the Boonshoft School of Medicine. All available residency positions at Premier Health for Wright State graduates were filled. A list of residency matches is available at medicine.wright.edu/match.
The graduating class selected Gregory Toussaint, M.D., senior associate dean of academic affairs, as the commencement speaker.

Gregory Toussaint, senior associate dean of academic affairs, was selected by the class of 2025 to give the commencement address.
Toussaint served as interim dean of the Boonshoft School of Medicine from August 2023 to March 2025. He previously held roles as associate dean for clinical skills education, assistant dean and director of admissions in the Office of Student Affairs and Admissions and director of the pediatrics clerkship.
He also served as medical director for inpatient general pediatrics at Dayton Children’s Hospital.
Toussaint joined the Boonshoft School of Medicine in 2005 following a 34-year career in the U.S. Air Force, where he served as a general pediatrician, medical staff chief and commander of forward-deployed field hospitals during three tours in Iraq and Afghanistan.
He is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, received his medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University, and completed residency training at Wilford Hall Hospital in San Antonio and a fellowship in general academic pediatrics at Boston Children’s Hospital.
