The College of Liberal Arts First-Year Student Success and Career Exploration Event featured a panel of 20 alumni and informational and networking opportunities for Wright State University students to explore potential careers.
The Oct. 25 event provided students opportunities to ask questions and hear about each panelist’s college journey and how Wright State prepared them for their careers.
“Sharing tips, sharing experiences and sharing opportunities,” said Wayne Stark, director of workforce development for the College of Liberal Arts. “That’s what it’s about tonight — helping students understand the possibilities with the liberal arts.”
Joshua Baker, who graduated from Wright State with a degree in music education in 2007, said students can absorb a lot from events like this.
“When you’re in a room with people willing to share their experience, I think there’s a lot you can learn,” said Baker.
The career exploration event was designed for first-year students but was open to all students who wished to attend.
“I liked the ability to interact,” said Edward Hans, a first-year student majoring in English. Hans said the interactive event allowed him to get to know the panelists and ask more personal questions about their experiences in college and their careers.
