Although Cowboy Mouth will be in town in September to perform at the inaugural Downtown Dayton Revival, the New Orleans-based band won’t participate in the local production of “Red Blooded, All-American Man.” Instead, a group of hired musicians will perform the songs.
“We’ve been working on this piece for about three-and-a-half years and we’ve done a lot of re-writes,” said Lawson, a graduate of Wright State University’s theater department. “The time we’ve been here and working with all the talented folks at Human Race have really helped out a lot.
“We’ve done more rewrites and some changes as well,” he added. “I couldn’t be happier with how it’s coming together. I’m a hometown boy so it’s neat to go full circle and come back with a piece I wrote and get to play with it a little bit here.”
