Wright State University–Lake Campus made several upgrades over the summer, creating more opportunities for students, employees and the community members to enjoy campus spaces and connect through recreation and engagement.

A self-service kayak rental station was added near the campus beach, giving students and community members a new way to enjoy Grand Lake St. Marys.

The campus partnered with Rent.fun to launch the rental program, which features 10 kayaks equipped with paddles and life jackets. Rentals are available to students, employees and the public daily from sunup to sundown, and cost $25 for up to two hours or $40 for up to four hours.

The Laker Lounge is a dedicated space for students to relax, connect and spend time between classes and includes an arcade and board games.

Pickleball courts have been added south of the Grand Lake Health/Premier Health North YMCA and are open daily to the public.

Inside Dwyer Hall, the former campus bookstore has been transformed into the Laker Lounge, a dedicated space for students to relax, connect and spend time between classes. The lounge features arcade and board games, comfortable seating and space for student organizations to meet and host activities.

The improvements reflect Lake Campus’s continued focus on creating spaces and experiences that respond to student needs while encouraging engagement with the surrounding community, inviting area residents to enjoy the campus and its proximity to Grand Lake.

“We want to take advantage of our unique location while creating experiences that help our students feel connected to the Lake Campus community,” said Andrea Faber, Ph.D., vice provost and chief administrative officer at Lake Campus. “Whether it’s getting out on the water, playing a game of pickleball or spending time with friends in the Laker Lounge, we want students to have opportunities to connect and make the Lake Campus feel like home.”
