The Wright State Research Institute has hired Michael Weisend, a nationally known neuroscientist, as a senior research scientist, university officials said.
Weisend is a pioneer in the application of transcranial direct current stimulation, which applies electricity to specific areas of the brain to enhance learning, officials said.
Weisend is nationally recognized for his work in the neuropsychology of learning, cognition and memory, according to a media release. He has written more than 50 scientific publications and has received grants for the Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, and the National Institutes of Health, among others.
