College of Engineering and Computer Science Dean Nathan Klingbeil accepts an Innovation Award from Dayton Business Journal publisher Carol Clark and Jeff Hoagland, president and CEO of the Dayton Development Coalition.
Wright State University’s College of Engineering and Computer Science took first place in the category of workforce development at the Innovation Awards sponsored by the Dayton Business Journal.
The honor was accepted by Dean Nathan Klingbeil during the awards ceremony June 12 at the Schuster Center.
The newspaper formed a partnership with the Dayton Development Coalition to launch the inaugural awards, designed to select the best individuals, teams, companies and institutions who discover innovative approaches and solutions to fuel the region’s economic engine. There were nearly 60 nominations in four different categories.
The College of Engineering and Computer Science (CECS) was nominated for applying innovative solutions to developing a knowledgeable and robust workforce in the region.
With the 2013 opening of the Brandeberry Career Development Center, CECS is developing unprecedented relationships with regional employers. Whether it be through traditional recruiting of interns and co-ops, participating in mock interviews, guest speaking at formalized internship seminars or collaborations with faculty on student projects and research, employers enjoy access to the college’s students and faculty like never before.
