The new director of a Wright State University center says it’s time to start thinking bigger.
Michael Wiehe is now leading the school’s Center for Urban & Public Affairs, and he has a goal of transforming it into an economic development tool for Dayton. The 12-year veteran of the political world and former Dayton Development Coalition consultant brings political acumen to the role, which the school says will lead to new work. It has six employees, as well as research assistants and graduate students on staff.
At the reins of the growing Wright State unit, Wiehe sees the role of the third-party data collection and analysis group evolving from one focused on public opinion surveys and strategic planning to one with a more proactive role in helping both government and military leaders formulate new policy.
