Wright State University has been using a new business organization to buy real estate near its campus and in the Dayton region as part of an overall growth plan. Officials tell me the school has been purchasing office property along Colonel Glenn Highway in Fairborn, across the street from its main campus, under a separate business name. Those buildings are being used to house non-academic units for the school.
Wright State formed a private organization, Double Bowler Properties Corp., which it has been using for real estate acquisition. Double Bowler bought the former Wright-Patt Credit Union headquarters at 2455 Executive Park Blvd., a 65,000-square-foot building, as well as the nearby two-story, 25,000-square-foot property at 3040 Presidential Drive, for $5.8 million late last year.
