‘Occupy’ protest movement spreads to WSU

FAIRBORN — The angst over politicians’ ties to big business and Wall Street has spilled over to colleges and universities with an “Occupy Wright State University” event scheduled for today.

The meeting set for 4:30 p.m. on the campus quad is the latest iteration of the “occupy” movement that spread from New York City to downtowns and college campuses across the country, including downtown Dayton.

The first WSU event was held by a handful of students Oct. 13. The meetings have a “general assembly” format where students, faculty and others can discuss issues and agree on ways to petition government officials to address their concerns, said Jolene Pohl, a WSU graduate student who attended.
