The Knights of Columbus honored Wright State police officer Zachary Norman with the Officer of the Year Blue Coat Award on Aug. 25.
Norman was presented with a resolution from the Greene County Board of Commissioners along with a congratulations letter from the Ohio Senate, honoring him for Outstanding Attainment.
David Finnie, Wright State’s chief of police, also presented Norman with the Blue Coat Officer of the Year Ribbon to wear on his uniform.
“I’m very grateful for it. I’m honored,” said Norman.
Norman has been a full-time sworn officer since 2007. He serves in the Wright State Patrol Division as an officer in charge on first shift. He is also the support services officer. Norman’s duties include planning and coordinating support services operations, fostering and maintaining relationships with other university departments and preparing itineraries and incident action plans.
“He has strong ethics and morals that he brings to the table and is a model officer for the department,” Finnie said.
The Fairborn Council 3724, Knights of Columbus, instituted the Blue Coat Awards in 1973 to honor police officers and firefighters in recognition of service to the community.
