Ohio State University paid out $25.6 million in bonuses last year, including seven of more than $1 million each, a Dayton Daily News investigation found.
OSU’s bonus payouts comprised the lion’s share of the $32 million in bonuses awarded to 7,521 employees at seven area public colleges and universities in 2011. In addition to the seven-figure bonuses, Ohio State awarded 21 more in excess of $100,000.
Wright State University’s payroll dropped 5 percent from 2010 to 2011 and it gave out only 63 bonuses. The largest was a $75,000 contractual bonus for university President David Hopkins.
Wright State has in-creased its tuition by the maximum allowable 3.5 percent this year and last; it remains one of the least expensive in the state.
