Wright State Boonshoft School of Medicine Center for Healthy Communities spreading the word about new Health Insurance Marketplace

The Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine Center for Healthy Communities is one of several community agencies involved in providing information about the new Health Insurance Marketplace.

These agencies will gather at the Dr. Charles R. Drew Community Health Center (1323 W. Third Street) on Tuesday, Oct. 1, noon to 2 p.m., to share information with the public and media about local resources and educational events relative to the Health Insurance Marketplace.

The Health Insurance Marketplace, part of the Affordable Care Act, will provide the uninsured a place to compare a variety of private health plans in which they can enroll beginning Oct. 1. Most people enrolling through the marketplace will be eligible for cost savings based on household size and income. These savings will make health coverage more affordable for more than 63,000 Montgomery County residents under 65 who are now without health insurance.

Because few people understand how the new marketplace works and how to enroll, a number of educational and enrollment events have been set up through the Community Health Centers of Greater Dayton, Public Health—Dayton & Montgomery County, Enroll America, Samaritan Homeless Clinic, Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine Center for Healthy Communities, Community Action Partnership, Unified Health Solutions, the Dayton Metro Library, the Ohio Food Banks and others.
