Carly Porter received the 2019 President’s Award for Excellence in Leadership. As the student services coordinator in the Career Center, Carly Porter helps connect students to possible employment opportunities, as well as provide them with opportunities to make connections with the Dayton community.
Porter is kind, helpful and never afraid to volunteer when work needs to be done. “She never does anything half-heartedly, but rather fully commits to each obligation, never mind the fact that she continually steps up to the plate when no one else will venture to volunteer,” said one of her coworkers.
People rave about Porter’s leadership abilities. She allows for all opinions to be considered with respect during any situation.
She is chair-elect of the Classified Staff Advisory Council (CSAC), an honor that she was unanimously voted for. She faithfully comes to every meeting and fills in at sub-committee meetings when CSAC sub-committee members are unable to attend. This year alone, she has served on at least three subcommittees, bringing back detailed notes and suggestions for CSAC responses to questions and concerns.
It is hard to find anyone who doesn’t compliment Porter on her ability to work with everyone she meets. She is an outgoing, professional person who strives to do the best she can in any situation she finds herself in.
