Bolinga Black Cultural Resources Center to mark 50th anniversary with online celebration

The Bolinga Black Cultural Resources Center at Wright State University will mark its 50th anniversary with an online celebration Friday, Jan. 15.

The celebration, sponsored by the African American Alumni Society and covering the Bolinga Center’s five decades of existence, will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. via Zoom. Meeting ID: 828 5360 4229; Passcode: 657658.

“Bolinga,” which means love in Lingala, an African language, has been a cultural powerhouse that has enriched the campus with celebrations, famous speakers and history lessons related to the African American experience.

Over the years, the Bolinga Center has organized celebrations paying tribute to civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. and has hosted talks from minority scholars and minority community leaders. It has also organized Kwanza celebrations and organized film series and arts and community festivals.
