Don Zink received the 2022 President’s Award for Excellence in Service (Classified) for his dedicated work as the lead grounds maintenance worker. He has a vast knowledge of the university and demonstrates incredible service across his work every day.
Zink has been with Wright State University for 32 years. His colleagues and coworkers call him a valuable member of the grounds team.
He oversees grounds maintenance across campus, such as turf, tree and shrub maintenance and the planting of annual accent areas. This maintenance enables Wright State to make a good first impression on prospective students and their families and maintain a beautiful appearance that current students, faculty, staff and visitors can enjoy.
Additionally, Zink works to maintain Wright State’s roads, parking lots and walkways, which are incredibly important for accessibility.
Over time, the university has seen a variety of changes, and since 1990, Zink has managed those changes with ease and knows the length of the changes incredibly well.
Zink’s colleagues commend his service to the university, particularly his willingness to take on any job. He is always incredibly aware of the safety of the campus community and always works hard to ensure students, faculty, staff and visitors have a pleasant experience when on campus.
