Wright State University will host its eighth annual Wright Day to Give on Tuesday, Oct. 1, and Wednesday, Oct. 2.
“We are always amazed by the generosity of our donors on the Wright Day to Give,” said Amy Jones, director of annual giving. “We are thankful to all of the Wright State alumni, faculty, staff, students, parents and friends who step up and give back on this special day.”
Wright Day to Give donors are encouraged to support the area of campus that is most meaningful to them. Whether it’s academics or athletics, student scholarships or student success initiatives, every gift makes a difference in the life of a Wright State student.

Raegan Steele, a neuroscience and physiology major, is grateful for the support that donors provide on the Wright Day to Give and throughout the year.
“Wright State has not only prepared me academically, but it has also given me opportunities and skills to better myself for the future,” said Steele. “That supportive environment and those amazing experiences would not have been possible without the help of our alumni and donors. They truly are dream makers for students like me.”
For computer science major Aiden Cox, gifts from donors helped provide the financial support he needed to pursue a college degree.
“Coming to college, I knew it would be a financial burden to get the education I needed. Thanks to the alumni and donors of Wright State — and the scholarship I received because of their generosity — that weight has been lifted off my shoulders,” said Cox. “I was shocked that people would invest in my future, and I am forever grateful for their support to allow me to grow and succeed while I’m in college.”
This year’s Wright Day to Give will launch with an official kickoff event on Tuesday, Oct. 1. Wright State alumni, faculty, staff, students, parents and friends are welcome to stop by the Wandering Griffin, 3725 Presidential Drive, anytime between 5:30 and 8 p.m. Wright State University President Sue Edwards and other special guest bartenders will be serving drinks. Guests will be able to enjoy an appetizer buffet, receive a commemorative Wright Day to Give pint glass and have the opportunity to win a variety of raffle prizes.
Donors are invited to “Give Back to the Pack” to help Wright State reach its goal of 1,100 donors. A variety of challenges and incentives will be offered to encourage participation, including:
- College Alumni Participation Challenge: When alumni make a donation to any fund that they are passionate about, the college they graduated from will receive credit toward the College Alumni Challenge. The college with the most alumni gifts (regardless of where the gift is designated) will earn $5,000 for their college, thanks to a gift from Anna and John Monnett.
- Donor Unlock: The Wright State University Foundation Board of Trustees will unlock a $30,000 gift as soon as 1,100 donors have made gifts on the Wright Day to Give.
- First-Time Donor Incentive: First-time donors who make a minimum gift of $19.67 will receive a Wright State University-branded pennant as a special token of appreciation. Pennants will be given to the first 200 new donors, thanks to the Wright-Patt Credit Union, Inc.
Additional matches, challenges and power hours will be announced on the Wright Day to Give.
Last year, 1,095 donors contributed over $185,000 for scholarships and programs.
“We always hope to top the previous year,” said Jones. “We encourage our Wright State family to ‘Give Back to the Pack’ and make this year’s Wright Day to Give the best one yet!”
