High school and college students can explore health care careers during virtual event

High school and college students can learn more about careers in health care on President’s Day during Wright State University’s annual Path to Health Professions Day.

The event features informational sessions with subject matter experts who will provide students with an overview of their journey to health professional school while giving students insight into the practitioners’ daily life.

This year’s Path to Health Professions Day will be held online on Monday, Feb. 15, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Participants will receive details about how to login to the program after they register.

Register for the event online. The deadline to RSVP is Feb. 12.

The event will appeal to high school, local college students and Wright State students interested in helping others through a career in health care, as well as members of their families or friends. Students attending other colleges can also learn more about transferring to Wright State.

Also encouraged to participate are teachers and counselors who want to learn more about Wright State’s pre-med and pre-health programs.

Participants will:

  • Gain a better understanding of career opportunities in health care, including medicine, athletic training, chiropractic, mental health counseling, nursing, optometry, pharmacy, physical therapy, physician assistant, public health and veterinary medicine
  • Discover what it takes to get into the Wright State Boonshoft School of Medicine and other professional programs
  • Find out how degrees from Wright State can open doors to the nation’s top professional schools
  • Learn what classes and activities they should choose now to prepare for their future

The Path to Health Professions Day will feature sessions on:

  • Chiropractic Medicine
  • Optometry
  • Osteopathic Medicine
  • Physician Assistant
  • Sports Science
  • Medical Lab Science
  • Professional Psychology and Psychiatry
  • Public Health
  • Rehabilitation Services
  • Veterinary Medicine
  • Allopathic Medicine (M.D.) and the Boonshoft School of Medicine
  • Dentistry
  • Nursing and Nurse Practitioner
  • Pharmacy

Medical students in the Boonshoft School of Medicine will also answer questions about medical school.

The event is hosted by the Pre-Professional Health Program in the College of Science and Mathematics.
