Wright State University will welcome nearly 2,400 new and returning residential students to its Dayton Campus for the start of the 2025 Fall Semester — the highest number of on-campus residents in more than a decade. This year’s total surpasses last fall’s 2,304 students.
“This is the most residential students we’ve had living on campus in over 10 years,” said Jennifer Attenweiller, director of Residence Life and Housing. “We’re excited to see such strong interest in campus living, which supports student engagement and success.”
- Aug. 15: Nearly 1,000 returning students will check in to Dayton Campus apartments. Students should report directly to their assigned building, where Residence Life and Housing staff will issue apartment keys.
- 18: More than 1,150 new students, along with several hundred returning students, will move into residential halls on the Dayton Campus during Operation Move-In. Students and families should arrive at their scheduled time in Lot 4, where staff and volunteers will facilitate a drive-through check-in before directing them to residence halls. WWSU, Wright State’s student-run radio station, will provide music, and games and prizes will help create a festive atmosphere.
The move-in experience will be supported by more than 380 volunteers, including faculty, staff and current students who will assist with traffic, parking and carrying belongings to residence hall rooms.
While students get settled, parents and family members are invited to a special reception hosted by Dean of Students Eric Corbitt, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Garden of the Senses.
Attenweiller attributes the growth in residential housing to a record-high student retention rate.
“Living on campus is convenient and cost-effective,” she said. “It reduces commuting expenses, offers easy access to dining and resources and enhances the overall student experience.”
Operation Move-In marks an important milestone in welcoming students, fostering campus community and supporting their success as Wright prepares for the start of the Fall Semester on Thursday, Aug. 21.
